EGAT Ready to sell Bidding Document of Sirindhorn Dam Floating Solar Cell Pilot Project 20 June – 26 July.
14-6-2019 –EGAT announced to sell the bidding document of the pilot projects of 45 MW electricity generation from solar cells on floating buoys at Sirindhorn Dam, Ubon Ratchathani province, the first hybrid project in the world is scheduled to sell the tender documents on 20 June – 26 July 2019.
Mr. Chatchai Marawong, Director of Hydropower and Renewable Energy Development Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) said that EGAT issued a tender offer document for the procurement and construction of a solar power generation project on a floating buoy.
The tender offer document is for the solar power project, floating buoy, together with Sirindhorn Hydroelectric Power Plant (Hydro-Floating Solar Hybrid) with a capacity of 45 megawatts, which is EGAT’s pilot project and is the first hybrid floating solar cell project in the world.
The tender documents are scheduled to be sold between 20 June – 26 July 2019 and EGAT will open the tender envelope on 20 August 2019 at 09.00 – 10.00 hrs.
The solar power buoy, together with the Sirindhorn Hydroelectric Power Plant Installing all the equipment on a floating buoy on the surface area of 450 rai using a double glass solar panel which is suitable for placing solar panels near the surface with high humidity and water movement at all times.
The project will help strengthen the electrical system to be able to manage water both day and night for maximum benefit. Enhance the supply for peak
electricity demand during the night.
In the future, the energy storage system can be used together in integration to make the system more stable and adopt the Energy Management System (EMS) to control the delivery of electrical energy.
It also uses the original power transmission system of EGAT to maximize the benefits.
In addition, the project has installed the HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) buoy, which is the same material as the water supply pipe, therefore it is not harmful to the environment and aquatic animals.
Therefore, the installation of solar cells in the EGAT’s dam area does not affect agricultural areas and community routes.
The project has a plan to supply electricity to the commercial system in December 2020, and EGAT is also preparing to continue the hybrid solar cell project in other areas of EGAT, including many others at total production capacity of 2,725 MW, which is in accordance with the power development plan of Thailand. 2018-2037 (PDP 2018).
