Krungsri ‘Care the Whale’ Bridging partnership toward Krungsri Zero Waste
Bank of Ayudhya Public Company Limited joins hands with the Stock Exchange of Thailand in raising public awareness on the waste problem with an urgent need to accelerate concrete actions among all parties, through the monumental ‘Whale’ sculpture under the ‘Care the Whale’ project. Addressing the waste crisis and its impact on all living things, including many of the world’s largest mammals killed by ingesting waste disposed in the ocean, the ‘Whale’ sculpture installed at Krungsri Ploenchit Office was made entirely out of 987 kilograms in waste which helps reduce 2,154 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent of waste to landfills.
The deaths of various whale species across different regions of the world represent only the tip of the waste crisis iceberg. Waste substantially contributes to accelerating greenhouse gas emissions and consequently exacerbating global warming and climate change.
Krungsri, in its role as a Domestic Systemically Important Bank (D-SIB), has operated with inclusive responsibility that transcends business undertakings to cover environmental, social and governance considerations for nearly eight decades. Krungsri is highly committed to addressing environmental sustainability issues, including end-to-end waste minimization and management with an aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from own operations toward net zero.
In 2021, Krungsri declared its Carbon Neutrality Vision, a bold move taken in the spirit of ‘banking with purpose’, committing to decarbonizing its own operations by 2030 and decarbonizing its financial services by 2050.
