EECO Cooperate with China through Investment Attraction Forum 2025

The Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand (EECO), in collaboration with the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Shanghai and Thai-Chinese Special Economic Zone Investment and Development Trade Association (SIDTA), organized the Investment Attraction Forum 2025 on May 29, 2025, at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China. The event aimed to promote investment opportunities in Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), attracting the participation of over 100 Chinese business representatives.

Mr. Chula Sukmanop, Secretary-General of the Eastern Economic Corridor Office, delivered a keynote address titled “Thailand EEC 2025: Opportunities in the New Growth Corridor”, highlighting the strategic advantages of investing in the EEC. His presentation emphasized the EEC’s targeted industries, investment incentives, competitive advantages, and robust investment ecosystem, aiming to foster collaboration and attract Chinese investors.
A key highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the EECO, represented by Dr. Chula Sukmanop, Secretary-General of EECO, and SIDTA, represented by Mr. Zhonglin Guo, President of the Association. The MOU outlines cooperation to support, promote, and facilitate investment from Chinese and international investors in the EEC. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Ms. Prinat Apirat, Consul-General of Thailand in Shanghai, and Dr. Puntil Jongjittrakoon, Chairman of the EEC Subcommittee on Investment Promotion and Monitoring and former Vice Minister for Commerce of Thailand.
Under the framework of this MOU, the EECO and SIDTA will work together to enhance foreign direct investment in the EEC, with a particular focus on investors from the People’s Republic of China. The collaboration aims to strengthen Thailand’s competitiveness and promote sustainable development in line with the objectives of the Eastern Economic Corridor.
Additionally, several companies expressed their intention to submit Letters of Intent (LOIs) to invest in the EEC. These companies represent key sectors such as digital industries, next-generation automotive, and advanced medical and healthcare services. The total expected investment value from these initiatives is approximately USD 1.228 billion (or THB 43 billion) over the first three years. This is anticipated to generate employment, facilitate knowledge and technology transfer, drive economic growth, improve the quality of life for local communities, and contribute to long-term sustainable development.
