Robinhood wins ‘2021 Nikkei Superior Products and Services Awards,’
affirming its successful aspiration to truly help small players
Since its official launch, Bangkok-based food delivery application Robinhood has continued its commitment to helping small eateries earn more income through the platform. Thanks to a very warm response from merchants and app users over the past year, the app is growing exponentially, with the platform having over 2.4 million registered users, some 186,000 participating restaurants, and 26,000 riders as of the end of 2021. Robinhood recently won a “2021 Nikkei Superior Products and Services Awards” from leading Asian newsmagazine Nikkei Asia, in recognition of the app’s successful aspiration to help small players such as eateries and riders weather the current economic hardship.
Mr. Srihanath Lamsam, Managing Director at Robinhood developer and operator Purple Ventures said, “Our aspiration to help restaurant operators, and especially small eateries, with no gross profit (GP) charges differentiates us from other food delivery platforms. Over the past year since its official launch, Robinhood has received a very warm response, with over 2.4 million registered users, some 186,000 participating restaurants, and 26,000 riders as of the end of 2021.The “2021 Nikkei Superior Products and Services Awards” from Nikkei Asia is international recognition of our commitment to helping those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic and the warm response from every party. We are very delighted and honored by the recognition of the app’s good intention to help restaurant operators boost their incomes and generate jobs for riders via food delivery to support themselves and their families.”
“As for the next step, Robinhood is set to expand food delivery service to high potential travel destinations in Chiang Mai, Chonburi, and Phuket. Also, in the pipeline is a social business model for non-food businesses covering food, travel, shopping, and delivery services. First, Robinhood Travel will act as an online travel agent (OTA) with bookings for hotels, as an option for hotel and accommodation operators to save costs on OTA commissions and fees. Second will be a grocery shopping service to connect Robinhood customers with supermarkets and grocery stores. And third will be an on-demand express parcel delivery service. We are paving the way to fully becoming a “Thai super app” ready for competition as a regional player.” Mr. Lamsam concluded.
