Cabinet Approved Ban Phai- Nakorn Phanom 355Km Double Tracks Railway.
28-5-2019 – Today at Ministry of Transport, Mr.Akom Termpittaya Phaisit Minister of Transport together with Mr. Pailin Chuchottaworn, Deputy Minister of Transport disclosed after the cabinet meeting that today the cabinet meeting approved State Railway of Thailand (SRT) to carry out the construction of Ban Phai – Mahasarakham – Roi Et – Mukdahan – Nakorn Phanom railway project.
The investment amount of the project is about 66.85 billion baht (including VAT 7%).
The term of construction would be in 8 years (the fiscal year 2018 – 2025). The bidding of the project will be by Electronic-Bidding (e-bidding) means.
The distance of this railway project is approximately 355 kilometers, passing through the total area of 70 sub-districts, 16 districts, 6 provinces, namely Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Mukdahan and Nakhon Phanom, with the construction of a new railway station of 30 stations. Maintenance plant at Phu Lek Station (Khon Kaen Province) for repairing the light agenda and fixing the moderate agenda as for the heavy agenda, it will be sent to repair the garage Uttaradit.
There are 81 railway overpass roads and 245 railway underpasses roads designed, along with the construction of two fences along the railway line. The width of the rail is one meter, can be connected to the existing SRT’s tram system. The project can serve up to 160 km / has the maximum speed.
The railroad is a stone-sprinkling system on both the ground level and the bridge or the elevated concrete structure. The construction will begin in January 2021 and completed in December 2024. The public service opening expected to be in January 2025.
“This BanPhai-NakonPhanom double tracks railways in a part of East-West Corridor linkage plan, it will be reach to two spots of Thai-Lao friendship bridge at Thai-Lao border.This project is the first double tracks railways will be the right side of East-West Corridor strategic linkage, next to Tak-Khonkan double tracks railways that cabinet had approved which is in the left side of East-West Corridor.” according to Mr.Natporn Jatusripitak Spokesperson for the deputy prime minister for economic affairs,
