Mr. Sanit Niyomom, Assistant Governor of Sustainability Management As the Deputy Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) revealed that the first two ships contain 4,000 tons transported crude palm oil from Surat Thani Province arrived Bangpakong Power Plant on 27 and 28 January, according to the plan, EGAT will begin to use the crude palm oil to operate the power generation plant at Bangpakong Thermal Power Plant Unit 3 on the coming February 2nd.It will use about 30,000 tons of crude palm oil per month as a fuel mixed 50: 50 with natural gas to be used by the plant’s electricity generation for 6 months from February to July, 2019.
By government’s balancing palm oil supply measure, EGAT will undertake the purchase in total 160,000 tons of crude palm oil, in accordance with the Cabinet’s resolution on 20 November to help farmers solve the problem of falling palm oil price. The use of crude palm oil to produce electricity will not affect the price of electricity, since the cost of The operation will not be combined with the Ft cost charging in the electricity bill but absorb by EGAT and government.
