SCB and VISTEC collaborate to present “Mission X
Roadmap to Sustainability” course, unleashing business potential through ESG opportunities
Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) and Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Technology (VISTEC) have partnered to promote responsible business practices encompassing social, economic, and environmental considerations. The goal is to empower 80 executives from prominent Thai organizations with knowledge and tools to navigate the new landscape of growth within the framework of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) guidelines. This will be achieved through a specialized “Mission X: Roadmap to Sustainability” course, as part of the “MISSION X” – The Boot Camp of Advanced Corporate Transformation initiative, designed to raise awareness of regulatory requirements and sustainable business principles. By participating, executives will gain access to government funding sources and support measures, enabling them to drive the Thai economy towards sustainable development goals and a low-carbon society by 2030. At the opening ceremony, Mr. Parnu Chotiprasidhi, First Executive Vice President of the Wholesale Banking Group’s Corporate Banking 2 Function, and Mr. Rungsan Ongsaranakom, Executive Vice President of the Corporate Banking 3 Function, both representing Siam Commercial Bank, were in attendance, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarana Nutanong, Dean of VISTEC’s School of Science and Information Technology, and Chief Executive Officer of VISAI ai Co., Ltd.
The Mission X: Roadmap to Sustainability course is designed to enhance participants’ knowledge and understanding of ESG policies, encompassing both risks and opportunities for entrepreneurs. It emphasizes the importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. By familiarizing course participants with crucial regulations and the implications of the Net Zero policy, the course prepares them to implement various measures, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and managing potential cost increases resulting from carbon taxation policies. This enables businesses to adapt their organizations, mitigate risks, and seize opportunities to expand their customer base. Moreover, participants learn about accessing funding sources and government support measures, while also gaining an understanding of how to apply circular economy principles to their businesses. The course emphasizes the importance of considering reputational risks when business partners fail to prioritize societal and environmental concerns, as well as risks within the supply chain. These challenges require Thai entrepreneurs to prepare for regulatory changes and capitalize on opportunities arising from ESG considerations. Workshops are conducted to facilitate the exchange of ideas, allowing participants to showcase their innovative concepts and design strategies. Furthermore, the course assists participants in formulating action plans and tracking their progress toward effectively aligning with their organization’s sustainability goals.
