XIM Thailand Joins Hands with World Leading Financial Institutions in Financing Monsoon Wind Power
Mr. Ittipol Lertsakthanakul, Executive Vice President of Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand), recently took a group photo with Mr. Woramol Khamkanist, Chief Executive Officer of Impact Electrons Siam Co., Ltd. (IES), and Mr. Ashok Lavasa, Vice President of Asian Development Bank (ADB), together with executives from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited (HKMC), Kasikornbank Plc. and Siam Commercial Bank Plc. at the event to celebrate the success of the Monsoon Wind Power Project at Nai Lert Park Heritage Home. Under the project, EXIM Thailand has collaborated with global leading financial institutions in rendering a syndicated loan with ADB as the lead arranger in the total amount of 692.55 US dollars to Monsoon Wind Power Co., Ltd., a consortium of IES, BCPG Plc. (BCPG), STP & I Plc. (STP&I), ACEN Renewables International Pte. Ltd., Mitsubishi Corporation and SMP Group, the awardee of concession from the government of Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) for the Monsoon Wind Power Project with a contracted capacity of 600 MW in Sekong and Attapeu provinces in the south of Lao PDR to sell electricity to Vietnam. Completion of construction work and distribution of electricity are expected by 2025. It is the first wind power plant in Lao PDR with the highest generating capacity in ASEAN.
As a state-owned specialized financial institution, EXIM Thailand has been steadfast in performing its role as Thailand Development Bank with offering of financial supports to businesses conducive to Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economy including this largest wind power plant in ASEAN. It is anticipated to help reduce emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG), the main cause of global warming, by 748,767 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year. This is in line with EXIM Thailand’s determination to join global community in mitigating GHG emissions to net zero and achieving carbon neutrality for the sustainable development of Thailand and the world at large.
