FPT launched Northern Oil Pipeline
Distribution System Strengthen The Country’s Energy Security.
28-3-2019–Yesterday (March27, 2019) at Phichit Oil Depot, Phichit Province, Mr. Siri Chiraphongphan Minister of Energy Presided over the opening ceremony of the Northern Oil Pipeline System Phase 1 (Bang Pa-In – Kamphaeng Phet – Phichit) together with Mr.Supadis Diskul, Chairman of the Executive Board of Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services Public Company Limited (BAFS) and Mr. Charoen Charusalaipong, Managing Director Fuel Pipeline Transportation Limited (FPT).
Northern Oil Pipeline Construction Project is a project that the cabinet approved to the private sector operator and is under the government’s energy strategy plan that the Group Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services Public Company Limited (BAFS Group) is an investor of more than 10,000 million baht, which has been granted to Fuel Pipeline Transportation Limited or FPT, which is a subsidiary company and is a pipeline transportation service provider for more than 28 years.
The construction of an oil pipeline that can transport jet fuel, diesel oil, gasoline, basic gasoline, Octane 91 and 95 in the same pipe, divided into Phase2 which is the phase 1 extension from the former oil pipeline of FPT from Bang Pa-in oil depot, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province to Phichit oil depot Wachirabarami District, Pichit province (Bang Pa-In – Kumpangpetch – Phichit), distance 367 km.
The total route of the oil pipeline is 576 km with the transporting capable of 9 billion liters of oil per year.
The Phase 2 project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2019.
For Northern Oil Pipeline Systems is a project that helps promote energy security of the country by using the oil pipeline systems and the end of the oil depot as the storage location for the oil reserve of the country.People will have no shortage of oil in times of emergency and disaster.The project will be also providing a very high return to society, especially enhancing the quality of life of people by reducing accidents from large truck oil transportation, reducing the sequel of oil prices, causing people in the northern region to have the opportunity to use oil at the prices close to Bangkok, while it will also helps to reduce pollution occurs from the transportation of oil by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by no less than 30,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year and reduce the occurrence of small dust particles, PM 2.5 from oil transportation with oil trucks.
In addition, the Northern Oil Pipeline System is also an important energy transportation infrastructure of the country that will support future economic growth.
The oil pipeline can be extended to transport jet fuel to the new international airport in Chiang Mai, as well as the oil depot of the Northern Oil Pipeline Systems.
In addition to being the center of oil distribution in the northern region located in the important strategic location of the country that can support oil transportation to neighboring countries.
The Phichit oil depot is the oil distribution spot through the East-West Economic Corridor linking Myanmar-Thailand-Laos-Vietnam (Malamang – Meawadi / Mae Sot – Phitsanulok-Khon Kaen-Kalasin-Mukdahan / Savannakhet-Dongha-Danang) and Lampang City Oil Depot located in The North-South Economic Corridor (North- South Economic Corridor) Linking China – Myanmar – Laos – Thailand (Kunming – Chiang Rung – Dalua – Chiang Tung – Tachilek / Mae Sai).
