“BLCP” Signed Long-term Maintenance Contract with “MHPS”
BLCP Power Station represented by Mr. Yuthana Charoenwong, Managing Director and Mrs. Parichat Asawakul, Deputy Managing Director had signed a 12-year long term service agreement (LTMA) with the Mitsubishi Group, represented by Mr. Ken Kawai, President and CEO of MHPS, Mr. Kiyoshi Azuma Executive – Vice President and Division COO of Mitsubishi Corporation Machinery Inc. and Mr. Yuichiro Sakaguchi – General Manager of Mitsubishi Corporation Machinery Inc.
The obligations under the PPA will be completed in 2032 with the mission of supplying electricity for stability and improving the efficiency of equipment and machinery.
Long-term maintenance agreement (LTMA) has entered from the year 2020 to the year 2032 to cover the period of the power purchasing agreement with Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) that will also be expired in the year 2032. Mitsubishi Group shall be responsible under the contract for inspections of the power plant’s equipment and enhancing the equipment efficiency to enable the power plant to operate in response to the stability of the electrical system. Improving the efficiency of the power plant will help control the electricity cost not to be too high for the business sector and the household sector.
Furthermore, the foremost consideration of BLCP is the environmental impact. Having a long-term maintenance contract for the power plant will ensure that the power plant will be able to comply with the requirements in the EIA report throughout the power purchasing agreement period with EGAT.
History of BLCP Power Station
BLCP Power Plant was constructed in 2003 following the Power Development Plan (PDP), with Mitsubishi Corporation as the Turnkey Contractor. It took approximately three years to complete the construction. It can distribute electricity commercially to Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand for the first unit (717 MW) on 1 October 2006 and the second unit (717 MW) in February 2007. BLCP Power Station has been operated as a baseload with a dispatch rate of over 99%, and there has never been the force outage for over 12 years.
