AEDP 2018-2037 High Renew-Alter Energy Goal Aimed Complete in August.
4-7-2019–Yesterday at thepress conference, Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE) and Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO) announced that now the Alternatice Energy Developmwnt Plan
,AEDP 2018 (2018-2033) are under arragement to be synchronized with Thailand’s Power Developnent Plan(PDP2018) which was approved by the cabinet on April 30,2019.The AEDP2018-2033 is aimed to be completed in coming Augst, after public hearing was made soon.
AEDP 2018 (2018-2033) target to raise renewable energy and alternative energy development ratio goal to no less than 20% to sustain national energy security.
DEDE and EPPO are getting ready to organize nationwide public hearing for all secter to participate and promote to widely use renewable energy soon in order to have the AEDP 2018 (2018-2033) concluded by August 2019.
According to the data of EPPO, Q1/2019 Thailand produced 58% Naural Gas (NG) compare to PDP2015 set NG production at 37% and PDP2018 aim to have 53% NG production.
EPPO’s data unveiled that Thailand’s Energy consumption rely more on Natural Gas production reflecting by there were more natural gas production ratio during Q1/2019.
AEDP 2018 (2018-2033) need to strengthen the national energy sustainability by quick rasing renewable and alternative energy production ratio and try to reduce the ratio rely too much on import fuel, in order to sustain energy security.
In AEDP2018-2033 , the goal of renewable and alternative energy development will be adjusted to be higher than the goal target in AEDP2015.
For example; • Solar energy originally planned for the year 2036 will be installed for a total of 6,000 MW at the end of 2017. 2,849 MW already implemented in the new plan will be installed between 2018 – 2037 for another 12,725 MW (Solar Roof and Water Floating Buoy Solar, target to geberate15,574 MW.in total at the end of 2037.
• Biomass energy goal will be adjusted from 5,570 MW in the original plan set at the end of 2017 to have 2,290 MW and another 3,496 MW power plans to be installed during 2018 – 2037 that will make total 5,786 MW at the end of 2037., etc.
The adjustment of AEDP2018 will be support by creating a new type of electricity that is not in the AEDP2015 plan that is producing electricity from floating solar energy, with a target of 2,725 MW and increasing the target of the waste power plant production from the original 500 MW to 900 MW to help solve the waste management problem which is the national agenda.
Mr. Wattanapong Kurovat, Director Energy Policy and Planning Office: EPPO revealed that according to the goal of the PDP2018, there will be 77,211MW power generation in 2037, which have to increase 56,431 MW
power generation capacity, in order to support the increased power purchase and private power generation and energy security.
“The guidelines for the development of alternative energy will be comprised of : setting the target for electricity production from renewable energy at no less than 20 %, which is a level that creates balance of electricity production and electricity consumption, in order to build the country’s energy security in the future.” said EPPO director.
