PM set to held EEC policy board on November 9
1-11-2018—Industry Minister disclosed today after the meeting of EEC Administrative Board, that after EEC Administrative Committee will proposed the next step of EEC plan to EEC Policy Board in the next meeting that Prime Minister (as the chairman) set to have the meeting on November 9, 2018 ( instead of November 12, 2018 Minister Uttama announced yesterday.)
He said from now on EEC will carry on the next step focusing on drawing in the investment of the targeting industry including to establish the EEC Fund and all others activity such as education, research and community’s sanitation and environment, including working with Department of Public Works and Town and Country Planning to make the land accession plan for each activities.6
“ TEEC Fund will be established next year (2019) according to EEC Act to look after EEC Environment and will accelerate more concentrate communication for the public to aware EEC activity. It will take six months to complete the land accession plan to do public hearing and the second draft must be done in February to put on discussion aiming to have it completed by the next six months (April 2019) . While EEC will work closely with BOI to invite specific groups of investor to invest in EEC, which it will be also linked to others region in Thailand. ” according to Minister Uttama.
According to Mr.Kanit Saeng supan EEC Ofiice Secretary General , EEC set 500 billion baht worth of investment as the five year goal of the total investment in S-Curve and New S-Curve industry to invest in EEC. The portion of 50/50 or 250 billion baht worth of S-Curve industry and 250 billion baht worth of New S-Curve industry.
The S-Curve industry comprised of ;
1) New automotive industry and 2) Smart Electronic Industry that will be filled in by Robotics for Industry of the new S-Curve industry.
3) Tourism for good income group and wellness tourism that will be filled in by full circuit medical industry, Transportation and Aviation industry of the New S-Curve.
4) Farming and Bio-Technology Industry that will filled in by Bio Fuel and Bio Chemical industry.
5) Food processing industry.
6) Digital industry that will fill in all the nine targeting industry.
According to EEC Secretary General, EEC will closely work with BOI, Ministry of Industry , I-EA-T and the related agencies to carry on the progressing work for the investment in EEC focusing on the specific roadshow to draw in the investment, especially in France, Japan and China for MRO Aviation Industry, Robotics and Automation Industry, food and medical industry, Smart City, Logistics including Air Transportation for Ecommerce., etc.
EEC will focusing on Roadshow with France to continue draw in MRO and aviation investment while Japan is interesting in robotics, automation and aviation, while China has various kind of industry but we will focusing on the event that deputy prime minister (Somkid Jatusripitak) will visit Shanghai to visit E.V. industry plant and BOI will hold a seminar in KwangZhou to invite China’s targeting investors, in order to persuade them to join investing in EEC. In addition EEC is preparing to sign MOU with ZhengZhou for Air Transportation cooperation while HangZhou has a lot of electronic industry investors that we are drawing in, according to EEC Secretary General.
Mr.Narit BOI deputy Secretary General disclosed that since the beginning of EEC policy in 2016, there are 720 billion baht of investment in EEC area, of which 230 billion baht of the investment were approved this year. For the 300 billion baht investment next year, 80% of the investment would be the investment in EEC area.
EEC policy board meeting will also discuss about whether and how EEC will expand the special economic zone works to others province such as Srakaew, CHataburi and Trad., etc., according to Industry Minister, on behalf of ChairmanEEC Administrative Committee.
