Industry Minister “Suriya” Assign Set Hearing Meeting With JETRO
After Prime Minister Made Policy Statement.
22-7-2019—Mr.Suriya Industry Minister unveiled at the press conference yesterday (22 July 2019) that he will meet with JETRO after Prime Minister made policy statement and Office of Industry Economic (OIE) will listen and communicate with Japanese investor and make the plan in one week to stop them from moving to other countries, as they worried by rumor that Thailand is losing competitiveness and to make them confidence, taking chance to pull into Thailand the investor in China hit by US-China trade war tariff wall and making decision to move from China, to talk with JETRO to get to know what Japan investors’ requirement to gain information to have the incentive and satisfaction improved to hold investors not to move from Thailand.
Mr.Worawoot Secretary General of Industry Minister unveiled that there are four companies that has high potential to move from China to Thailand, namely Casio, Sailun Tyre, Citi Chain and RICOH which Ministry of Industry is focusing on trying to convince them to move from China to invest in Thailand and wish them to make decision soon.
Mr.Worawoot said according to Nikei ASEAN Review there were some others companies such as APPLE, SUMITOMO, MITSUBISHI, ASUS, TOSHIBA and SKETCHER., etc had move their investment from China to gain better competitiveness in others countries namely; India, Vietnam, Mexico, Taiwan and some decided to move back to Japan. By the way, the countries investing in China that Thailand aiming to convince to move into Thailand instead of others countries are Japan and USA.
Ministry of Industry also set up the goal of “100 Days Industry Can Do” which is aiming to have the organic law of the Act of three department which had been endorsed completed within 100 days after government made policy statement on 25 July 2019, namely; Department of Mine and Mineral, Act of Department of Industry Standard and Department of Industrial Works, in order for the business related to the three department able to move on their activity within the beginning of November 2019 or sooner.
Ease of doing business is also another competitiveness Thailand aiming to make fast developed in order to convince to draw in more foreign investment into Thailand,
according to Minister of Industry secretary.
