Thailand Urged Car Makers Upgrade E.V. to Euro 6 / Improve Bad Emission.
30-1-2019–Thai government trying to launch the E.V. enforced-standard measure for local Electrics Vehicle makers to have it BOI promoted E.V. production to meet Euro 6 standard and to have their Euro 4 and Euro 5 E.V. to be upgraded to meet Euro 6 standard by 2021 to sustainably improve Thailand’s air quality in the long run.
Currently, the emission from construction projects and the emissions from cars are the major factors polluted air pollution, while lacking of wind has allowed air pollution to be accumulated. The Euro standard measure is to reduce the polluted substances including dust, sulphur, poly aromatics and hydrocarbons emitted by engines.
Mr.Nattapol Rangsitpol, Director General of Office of Industrial Economics (OIE) said the government can’t announcethe enforced-standard for the car makers because it will cause those companies higher cost of production and its new car price must be up to 15,000-20,000 baht/unit that will surely effect consumers.
“Some car maker companies explained to the government that if the company upgrade their production to meet Euro6 standard as Euro 5 it will increase their cost of production, however the car maker companies has produced a new car model that can use higher Euro fuels standard as same as Euro 5 standard” he said.
The ministry will consult with the Board of Investment (BOI) to consider about the new investment promotion package to support and promote the Euro 5 and Euro 6 standard E.V. production.
Ministry of Energy announced to have Thailand to examine the possibility of upgrading refined oil to meet the Euro 5 standard.
“OIE expects to reduce more than 80% of PM2.5 dust emission or accounted to37,391 dust tones within 2021” he said.
Currently, Thailand has 171 models of the Euro 5 car included domestic sale and import, comprise of 27 models of The 2nd Phase of Eco car, 11 models of large and mid-sized cars and 19 models imports car.
