Thailand Facing Less Labor Disputed/A Bit More Employee Laid off compare with last year.
Predicted 2019 lay-off situation won’t be bad as worried.
21-12-2018–Mr.Wiwat TangHong General Director of Department of Labor Protection and Welfare disclosed about the labor situation in 2018 (1 January – 31 November 2018) that
there were 44 employers and 37,830 employees got involved in labor disputed cases which was less than in 2017 when there are 59 employers and 57,425 employees involved with the labor disputed cases.
He said the lay-off situation in 2018 found similar to the situation in 2017.
Refer to the data of Social Security Office, in 2018 there are 259,770 emplyees
In industrial and service sector under Article33 were laid off which is only 4,385 persons more than 255,385 employees laid off in 2017.The top three sectors which has the highest laying off are Agricultural, furniture production and rubber products production.By the way this year’s lay-off situation is better while compared with the lay-off situation in the same period last year.
After negotiation id there disputed case, in 2017 there were 57,000 employees gain 12 billion baht more benefit while in 2018 there were 37,000 employees gain 8 billion baht benefit from the labor disputed cases, while there are about 120 disputed case remain under negotiation.
Mr.Wiwat said for the employment trend in 2109 which predicted to have more lay-off, especially the enterprise that tend to bring technology or AI to take the place of man power such as TV and digital industry and retail business., etc.
By the way after closely survey, basically some employers has been restructure there enterprises and mostly the lay-off will be made voluntary and provide them benefit more than the enforced benefit to compensate stipulated in the law. By the way the department had assigned officers in all area to continue closely monitor the situation to prevent the problem that might be happened in the future.
