How to Love the Planet Like a Pro! Nan Sandbox project
The Nan Sandbox project has unveiled a campaign to raise Thai people’s awareness of climate change – the pressing issue for everyone. The campaign suggests ways to address global warming and prevent its root causes by embracing ‘8R’ practices via the “How to Love the Planet Like a Pro” TV commercial with the aim of fostering understanding, awareness and collective action. All Thais are encouraged to join missions via fun ‘GENGREEN Gathering’ activities challenging others to ‘go green’ in order to save the world together.
In its drive to fight global warming, the Nan Sandbox project has continually launched campaigns to promote awareness of climate change among the general public. For this year, the “How to Love the Planet Like a Pro” TV commercial has been unveiled, featuring sisters Moriya and Ariya Jutanugarn, better known as ‘Pro Mo’ and ‘Pro May’ – world-class Thai golfers who share their love for the Earth at different stages, while communicating their ideas and daily life practices that aim to help reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to combat climate change via ‘8R’ practices. They include Rethink – to think thoroughly before buying or consuming any products; Refuse – to refuse unnecessary items; Reduce – to reduce non-essential consumption; Reuse – to reuse products as much as possible; Repair – to repair for longest use of products; Regift – to give products to others so they can use them; Recycle – to transform used products and use them again; and Recover – to reuse products in new forms. These practices are simple and easy for everyone, by reducing consumption and using products as long as possible for the best value for money. Unnecessary consumption will lead to more extensive production and exploitation of more resources and energy, while also creating immense amounts of waste, which are the causes of GHG emissions and climate change. Interested persons may view the clip at the ‘Rean Roo Rak Pa Nan’ YouTube channel https://youtu.be/VrK8bADdx6E.
Apart from creating the video clip, the Nan Sandbox project has launched joyful activities for everyone to change their behaviors with the purpose of addressing the problem of climate change, focusing on extensive implementation of the ‘8R’ practices. Anyone in any generation can join the Gen Green and take part in the Mission #GENGREENGathering by posting their “save the world” activities in the following four missions under the given hashtag:
1. # Don’t waste your food – Avoid letting food expire so as to create less waste.
2. # Lower electricity bills to save the world – Show the current electricity bill that is less than that of the previous month.
3. # Fix everything – Repair things so that they can be reused.
4. # Recycle things – Recycle things to reduce waste.
Participants in each mission, including those who have completed the four missions and those who have been selected, are entitled to a number of prizes. These missions are easy to do, but once accomplished, they can have a significantly positive impact on the world. So, let’s participate in these activities from today to July 12, 2022, to help accomplish those missions in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and in turn avoid a climate change crisis. About the Nan Sandbox project:
The Nan Sandbox project aims to address the climate change phenomenon and support the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. For this reason, KBank has organized a campaign centered on the climate change crisis to raise awareness and foster understanding among the public towards the importance of environmental issues that continue to occur and intensify around us. The phenomenon has affected the lifestyles of people worldwide economically, socially and environmentally. This project is designed to provide knowledge and sound understanding of the situation – ranging from causes and ongoing impacts, to preventive measures and behavioral adjustments that will help to remedy and mitigate such issues in a concrete manner; all of which can be achieved through diverse communication channels and encompass all target groups, children and adults alike.
